“Anna was my one to one learning support tutor for dyslexia during my time at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. I was diagnosed with dyslexia at the age of 20 and Anna was instrumental in helping me understand the condition, turning it from something negative into a positive change in my mindset and methodology. Anna completely changed the way I organise myself and my time and years later, I’m still successfully using the skills she taught me to organise my portfolio career without risking burnout. Furthermore, Anna helped me with memorisation, learning scales, structuring my essays in academic work and basically anything else I needed help with. Anna is incredibly knowledgeable with techniques to help with specific learning difficulties and really understands how each of her students are feeling which makes her a great tutor! I could absolutely not recommend Anna enough for any help you need!”

Clarinettist, Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance

“During the third year of my undergraduate studies at Trinity Laban, I attended weekly learning support sessions with Anna Cooper. Having only been diagnosed with dyslexia during my studies at Trinity, I was very new to the idea of different learning tactics.

In our sessions, we focused a great deal on essay writing skills as this is often an area that people with dyslexia find difficult, myself included. We looked at how to structure essays, paragraphs and correctly reference academic materials. As a practical music student, I hadn’t had a regular opportunity to learn and practise these skills, so the sessions benefitted me greatly. Now that I am studying a Master’s degree, I am having to write many more essays, and I still find myself automatically going back to all of my notes from my time with Anna to help me.

We also explored organisational strategies. Anna introduced me to a style of diary that I still use now, as I can see all of my various time slots during the day and can plan out hour by hour how I can best use my time. This would also to help me relax during more stressful weeks. In addition, we worked through music practice tactics so that I didn’t get distracted or bored which included figuring out how long I could focus for in one sitting and how many practice sessions I needed to implement so I could achieve my weekly goals.

Anna has helped me a lot on a personal level. I am very thankful for my time with Anna and feel that I really grew both as a student and as a person.”

“My study skills sessions with Anna were fundamental to achieving my goals. I always felt welcome and valued. Anna’s specialist SEN techniques and knowledge were tailored to help with any task and I still use these strategies today! I’m so grateful for these sessions and how they reshaped my enthusiasm for learning as a neurodiverse student. With Anna’s input, I am now studying to become an Educational Psychologist. This decision was mainly inspired from study skills with Anna and her constant support.”

R. Morgan

Singer, Guildhall School of Music and Drama

“When I started at music college, I was just diagnosed with Dyslexia. It was a struggle to try and figure everything out on my own. However, I received learning support from Anna and we worked to get my reading comprehension up, focussed on organisation and time management strategies so that I could complete essays and assignments on time and looked at ways to help me clearly state what I wanted to express in an essay. She has enabled me to graduate with 1st class honours. Not only do I now have much more confidence in my academic abilities, I have tools that will allow me to continue developing throughout my career.”
